FAQs

Answers before you ask

The questions we hear most from people thinking about an Australian visa. If yours is not here, send us an enquiry and a lawyer will answer it directly.

What types of visas do you help with?

We cover the full range of Australian visas: partner and parent visas, skilled visas (subclasses 189, 190 and 491), the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482), employer sponsorship including DAMA and labour agreements, visitor visas, and visa refusals, cancellations and review at the Administrative Review Tribunal.

How much does a migration lawyer cost?

We work on fixed fees agreed before we start, so you always know the cost up front. The fee depends on the visa type and the complexity of your case. Government application charges are separate and are paid to the Department of Home Affairs. Book a consultation and we will quote for your exact situation.

How long will my visa application take?

Processing times vary by visa subclass and change frequently. The biggest factor you can control is lodging a complete, decision-ready application: incomplete applications attract requests for further information that can add months. We will give you a realistic timeframe for your specific visa at your consultation.

What happens at the first consultation?

We review your circumstances, identify the visa pathways open to you, flag any risks and give you honest advice about your prospects, including telling you when we do not think a pathway is viable. You leave knowing your options, the costs and the next steps.

My visa was refused or cancelled. What can I do?

A refusal is often not the end of the road. Many decisions can be reviewed at the Administrative Review Tribunal, and some cancellations can be revoked, but strict deadlines start running from the moment the decision arrives. Contact us immediately so your review rights are protected.

Can my employer sponsor me to work in Australia?

Yes. If your employer becomes an approved sponsor and nominates your role, you may qualify for the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482) or another employer sponsored pathway. We act for both workers and businesses, handling the sponsorship, nomination and visa stages end to end.

What evidence do I need for a partner visa?

The Department of Home Affairs weighs your relationship evidence across four areas: financial, household, social and commitment. Genuine couples are refused every year because their evidence was thin or poorly organised. We prepare your evidence properly from the start so your application is decision ready.

Do you help clients outside Melbourne?

Yes. We are based in Melbourne but act for clients across Australia and overseas. Consultations are available in person, by phone or by video call.
